Hi
Apologies if this has been covered before. I did search through all posts but could not find any reference to this query.
We have a website with a google ad campaign which is run by on outside company.
We want to use a OnePageCRM contact us web form as this would save us manually imputing a lot of lead details.
The outside company though expressed concern that if we use the OnePageCRM "contact us" form then the Google conversions might not show up in the Google ads account.
They control the tag manager account which is linked to the Google Ads.
Wondering what are your thoughts on this?
Regards
Brian
Hi Brian O'Shea,
Thank you for getting in touch. You're right to check on this before making the switch. The concern from the outside company is likely due to how conversions are tracked in Google Ads via Google Tag Manager (GTM). Here’s a breakdown of the potential issue and solutions:
Why Google Ads Conversions Might Not Show Up
a. If the OnePageCRM form is hosted externally or embedded in an iframe, Google Ads might not properly track conversions because it wouldn’t register as happening on your site.
b. If your current setup relies on GTM triggers that fire on form submissions from your website, switching to OnePageCRM’s form might break this if it doesn’t trigger the same events.
c. If the form redirects users away from your main site (e.g., a thank-you page hosted by OnePageCRM), your GTM setup may not capture this properly.
I can suggest Possible Solutions
a. Check if OnePageCRM allows you to embed your GTM container or add custom tracking scripts. If it does, you can fire the Google Ads conversion tag from there.
b. If the form submission happens on your website, work with your ad agency to create a custom event in GTM (e.g., "Form Submitted") that fires when the OnePageCRM form is completed.
c. If tracking submission is difficult, a workaround is to track clicks on the "Submit" button and use that as a conversion event.
d. If possible, after the form is submitted, redirect users to a thank-you page on your site (e.g., yourwebsite.com/thank-you). Then, have GTM track visits to that page as conversions.
e. Since the ad agency controls GTM, they should be able to set up conversion tracking for the new form. Share OnePageCRM’s documentation with them and ask if they can integrate it.
As the OnePageCRM dev forum primarily focuses on OnePageCRM code and functionality, my expertise is limited to this area. The information I provided is based on a general understanding beyond OnePageCRM. I hope this helps you move forward. I would recommend reaching out to Google, as their developers can provide more precise guidance on the best way to integrate with their platform.
Thank you,
Vladimir
